Leadership Team

The Executive Committee were elected (or re-elected) by the membership in September 2016 at the AGM.  Names and job descriptions follow:

Chair (Sue Clements-Jewery)

  • Plays a key role in the life of the association
  • Convenes and chairs AGM in collaboration with the Secretary
  • Convenes and chairs Executive Committee Meetings (either face to face or by teleconference at least twice in each year) in collaboration with the Secretary
  • Reports to the AGM
  • Signs accreditation certificates
  • May not be an accreditation assessor
  • Requires a commitment to the development of the association and a good grasp  of its aims

Secretary (Vacant)

  • Plays a key role in the life of the association
  • In collaboration with the chair, produces agendas for the AGM and Executive Committee Meetings
  • Keeps minutes of the AGM and Executive Committee Meetings
  • Holds and updates an archive of key documents
  • Handles correspondence and enquiries
  • Liaises with the Membership Secretary, Treasurer, Webmaster and Accreditation Secretary as necessary
  • Organises any necessary balloting/communication with the membership in collaboration with the membership secretary (including APSICAL – the newsletter)
  • Receives any complaints against members and organises a panel to investigate/appeal panel if necessary
  • Requires administrative efficiency and a commitment to the smooth running of the association

Hon Treasurer (David Preston)

David-Preston

  • Plays a key role in the life of the association
  • Is a member of the Executive Committee
  • Keeps accounts
  • Arranges for accounts to be inspected according to the law
  • Prepares an annual budget and financial report for the AGM
  • Liaises with the membership secretary as appropriate
  • Makes any conference/meeting room bookings in collaboration with the Secretary
  • Requires basic accounting skills and a commitment to the development of the association

General Members’ Representative (Duncan Strathie)

Duncan Strathie

  •   Plays a key role in the life of the association
  •   Is a member of the Executive Committee
  •   May not be an accredited member
  •   Represents the interests of general members on the Executive Committee
  •   Requires a commitment to the development of the association and a willingness to share the work of the Executive Committee

Accredited Members’ Representative (Bob Whorton)

Bob Whorton

  • Plays a key role in the life of the association
  • Is a member of the Executive Committee
  • Must be an accredited member
  • Represents the interests of accredited members on the Executive Committee
  • Requires a commitment to the development of the association and a willingness to share the work of the Executive Committee

Membership Secretary (Ruth Iley)

Ruth-Iley

  • Organises and keeps updated electronic membership records
  • Manages mailings by email and mailchimp
  • Handles membership enquiries and processes applications for membership
  • Liaises as necessary with the Executive Secretary and Chair
  • Liaises with  the regional groups facilitators
  • Requires good administrative, communication and IT skills and a commitment to the smooth running of the association.

Accreditation Secretary (Maureen King)

  • Handles enquiries about accreditation
  • Receives applications for accreditation
  • Drafts correspondence with those seeking accreditation
  • Reports to the Executive Committee twice a year and to the AGM
  • Liaises with the Assessors
  • Manages and initiates periodic review of the Accreditation process
  • Requires a thorough understanding of the Accreditation process, administrative efficiency and good communication skills

Webmaster (Co-opted: Jacqueline Engel)

  • Keeps the website updated and functioning
  • Liaises as appropriate with the Executive Committee, Accreditation Secretary, Membership Secretary etc. regarding content and site development and the incurring  of any expenses
