Date: Saturday, 2nd October 2021, 10am – 2pm. This includes 30 minutes’ break for lunch, plus a 10-minute break in each morning and afternoon session.

About the workshop:

This event is a Continuing Professional Development workshop for qualified Pastoral Supervisors who work with Christians. It will explore how Pastoral Supervision can become more appropriately theologically-informed, and provide pastoral supervisors with some skills and theoretical awareness to integrate sensitive theological reflection into the pastoral supervision that they offer with Christian supervisees, when appropriate. There will not be any heavy and heady discussions about theology. Rather, models of practical theological integration and accommodation will be explored, and skills of integration enhanced. The morning session will consist of input, discussion and reflection, and the afternoon session will provide an opportunity for practice in small groups in breakout rooms. The workshop will be delivered on Zoom.

Facilitator: Revd Prof Peter M. Gubi, PhD, ThD, DMin, FRSA, FHEA

Peter is a Trustee of the Association for Pastoral Supervision and Education (APSE), an APSE Senior Accredited Pastoral Supervisor, Professor of Counselling and Spiritual Accompaniment at the University of Chester, and a serving Minister in the Moravian Church. He is an experienced practitioner and researcher who has authored, co-authored and edited six books (and numerous peer-reviewed research and practitioner articles), the latest being ‘Reflective Practice Groups for Clergy: Offering pastoral supervision, well-being support and spiritual formation in community’ (published by Chester University Press).

Fee: £30 (all monies will be donated to Retreat House, Chester) https://retreathousechester.co.uk/
